After 1857 some Ghair Muqallidin rejected the centuries of ijtihad in furui masail and issued fatwas declaring that the salah of the Ahnaf is batil and against the Sunnah. Large books were authored to refute the Hanafi position. Many Ahnaf ulama authored works in response to this issue. Mawlana Sarfaraz Khan Safdar’s work Ahsan al-Kalam is one of them. The first part mentions the dalail of the Ahnaf and the second part responds to the dalail of the opposition.
